After more than 30 years reading energy, I have found that many people recognize a no before they permit themselves to say it. The body tightens, enthusiasm disappears and every agreement feels heavier. Then guilt arrives with a list of reasons you should ignore yourself.
Intuition is usually simple
It may say, “This is not right for me,” without building a courtroom case. Guilt argues that someone will be disappointed, you owe them access or a good person would keep sacrificing.
Check whether the yes creates resentment
Imagine agreeing. If you immediately feel trapped, angry or depleted, your generosity may have crossed into self-abandonment. A clean yes can involve effort without creating inner resistance.
Choose a respectful no
You do not need a dramatic explanation. Say what you can and cannot do, then allow the other person to have feelings about it. Their disappointment does not prove your boundary is wrong.
