In more than 30 years of reading energy, I have met sensitive people who protected themselves so completely that nothing painful could enter—and neither could intimacy, opportunity or joy. Protection should help you remain present. It should not turn life into a permanent defensive position.
A boundary is different from a wall
A boundary decides what behavior you will accept and what access another person receives. A wall assumes closeness itself is dangerous. One responds to information; the other can keep operating long after the original threat has passed.
Check what belongs to you
Before absorbing another person’s mood, pause and notice your own body. Ask, “Was I feeling this before they arrived?” You can acknowledge their emotion without taking responsibility for fixing it.
Use protection that allows connection
Picture clear blue light around you like a breathable boundary rather than armor. Let warmth move in and out while pressure, manipulation and hostility remain outside. The image is a reminder of choice, not a substitute for practical limits.
Let trustworthy people earn closeness
Openness does not mean instant access. Watch consistency, accountability and respect over time. Discernment allows the heart to stay alive while wisdom controls the door.
